About S Square Detect

S Square Detect is an early stage medical diagnostic startup founded in 2015. We serve our target US market of over 5 Million patients for point-of-care based medical equipment to diagnose and predict neuro-vascular diseases.

S Square Detect is a pioneer to offer a comprehensive diagnostic solution for detecting early symptoms of neurological events in the brain and serve an unmet clincal need for our customers.

Our Vision is to create a "Treadmill" stress test for the brain that can provide an end-to-end continuum of care for under served patients from home to high acuity clinical environment.

Mr. Srinivasan is President and Founder of S Square Detect Medical Devices.  He has 20 years of progressive management experience in Start-up and Fortune 500 companies in medical devices & security imaging (CT, DR, Patient Monitors) verticals.

Previousy, Mr. Srinivasan held executive management position at Draeger where he was responsible for over $45 M programs. He has also held senior management positions at   ZOLL Medical and L-3 SDS supporting over $160 M product lines. His strong expertise and experience in global product / program management and strategic marketing has helped corporate business units, particularly medical verticals to launch several successful and sustainable products to market. 

In greenfield ventures, he has successfully raised capital over $8 M for new technology development from external investors and has delivered products for pilot launch. 

Mr. Srinivasan holds 4 issued patents and 1 pending in the field of X-ray imaging and medical devices. He received his MS in engineering from Iowa State University and a Masters in Business Administration with focus on entrepreneurship and finance from  Babson.

Dr. Ziskin is a physicist with R&D expertise and over 16 years of experience in sensor instrumentation, hyperspectral imaging and algorithms.  Dr. Ziskin is S Square Detect's technologist and data scientist and consults in product research  and development.  

Previously, Dr. Ziskin was a principal physicist at Physical Sciences Inc, MA, where he led the development of a new radiation sensor. Before that, he was a principal engineer at L-3 SDS, MA, where, among other things, he led the development of the novel 4th generation CT X-Ray scanner.  

Dr. Ziskin authored and co-authored multiple publications and has six patents in the field of sensors and imaging algorithms.  In addition to his primary responsibilities in prototype development, he is  involved with supporting S Square Detect's NSF and NIH proposals involving hardware design, machine learning algorithm development and neural network research.

Dr. Ziskin  received his doctoral degree in Physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Dr. Fantini is a Professor at Department of Bio-Medical Engineering at Tufts University. He received his doctoral degree in physics from the University of Florence, Italy, in 1992. His dissertation was based on a Raman scattering study of ceramic superconductors.  From 1993 to 1999, Dr. Fantini held postdoctoral and faculty appointments at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Department of Physics.

In 1999, he joined Tufts University as an Assistant Professor, and has been one of the inaugural faculty members of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, created at Tufts in 2002. 

Dr. Fantini's research interests are in the area of biomedical optics, specifically in diffuse near-infrared spectroscopy and imaging of biological tissues. His research laboratory has ongoing projects aimed at non-invasive functional imaging of the brain, the study of cerebral and skeletal muscle hemodynamics, and the development of novel instrumentation for optical mammography.

Dr. Fantini has been associated very closely with S Square Detect Research team over the last 4 years and has guided them on several NIH and NSF proposals in the area of coherent hemodynamics for detecting neurological events in the brain. Dr. Fantini's research has resulted in eleven patents and about two-hundred journal and conference proceedings publications.

Shyam Prabhakaran M.D.

 Dr. Prabhakaran is  a   Professor of Neurology and Director of Stroke Research at Northwestern University. He has extensively worked on improving stroke systems of care and health services research.

He is the principal investigator for Northwestern’s Regional Coordinating Center in the NIH Stroke Trials Network (1U10NS086608-01), a network that will promote innovative clinical trials and validation studies in stroke. His prior efforts include the multi-center NIH-funded study, Mechanisms of Stroke in Intracranial Stroke (MoSIS: NS069938-01) and the ongoing Mechanisms of Early Recurrence in Intracranial Atherosclerotic Disease (MYRIAD: NS084288-01A1).

Dr. Prabhakaran also has significant experience in qualitative methods and is the PI for the Chicago based Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI: AD-1310-07237) funded study to reduce disparities in awareness and activation of 911 after stroke.

Over the last 4 years, Dr. Prabhakaran has worked very closely with S Square Detect, ascertaining the use of near infrared technology in stroke diagnostic and evaluation. He continues to guide the team in the prototype development and as chief medical officer develops clinical requirements for NIH and NSF proposals.  Dr. Prabhakaran has over 120 peer reviewed publications in the field of neurology and neuroscience research.

Dr. Prabhakaran received his  MD degree from UMDN-New Jersey medical center, his residency in neurology from New York Presbyterian hospital, his MS degree from Columbia University and his fellowship in vascular neurology from  New York Presbyterian hospital.
